Mastermind behind Chattogram double murder Hasan arrested with arms

The primary suspect in the Chattogram double murder case, Md Hasan, 37, has been apprehended by police along with a firearm believed to have been used in the crime.

Hasan was arrested during a raid in the Noler Char area of Noakhali's Hatia upazila on Friday night. He is a resident of Paschim Shaheed Nagar under the Bayezid Bostami police station in Chattogram.

According to Bakalia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ikhtiyar Uddin, the arrest followed information provided by another suspect, Md Mehedi Hasan. Subsequently, police recovered a 7.65mm American AUTO pistol, two magazines, and two bullets from Hasan's residence in Shaheed Nagar. Ballistic tests will be conducted to confirm if the recovered weapon matches the shell casings found at the murder scene.

The double murder took place on the night of March 30, when assailants on motorcycles opened fire on a private car in the Chandanpura area of Chawkbazar, killing Bakhteyar Hossain Manik and Md Abdullah, and injuring two others. The attack is believed to be linked to ongoing gang rivalries in the Bayezid Bostami area.

Earlier, police arrested several individuals in connection with the case, including Md Belal and Md Manik, who were identified through CCTV footage. Notorious criminal Sajjad Hossain, alias Chhoto Sajjad, and his wife Sharmin Akhter Tamanna have also been implicated and are currently in custody.
