Akash-Mozammel elected to lead DU unit of Socialist Students' Front

Akash Ali has been elected General Secretary and Mozammel Haque has been appointed Convener of the Dhaka University (DU) unit of the Socialist Students’ Front.

The 11-member new committee was formed on Saturday (May 3) during the organization’s 21st council session held on the DU campus.

Other members of the newly announced committee include Motiar Rahman, Raqekuzzaman Jewel, Ahmed Araf, Asaduzzaman Asad, Md. Ehtesham Muhib, Yasir Arafat, Tafsirullah, Tajbir Ahmed, and Hridoy Hawlader.

The council was inaugurated by the organization’s central president Salman Siddiqui. Central General Secretary Rafiquzzaman Farid and Organizing Secretary Pragati Barman Tama were also present as guests.

The council session was presided over by outgoing DU unit president Sadekul Islam Sadik and conducted by newly appointed Organizing Secretary Mozammel Haque.

Speakers at the event called on students to actively resist the commercialisation and privatisation of higher education, as well as efforts to curtail education, culture, and human dignity.
